The man at the centre of a murder investigation in Moss Side has been named by heartbroken friends as Dre Brown. Police raced to Raby Street at around 11pm on Friday (May 8) following reports of a stabbing.

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital, where he sadly later died. The man has since been named by friends as Dre Brown. His full first name was Adrian, it is understood.

Mr Brown was a musician, going by the name StanaMan. He is understood to have had three children.

Tributes are flooding in on social media. One friend said: “RIP, Dre. You will be sadly missed. Gone far too soon. You were such a kind soul and amazing father.”

Another person described him as a ‘good kid’. A pal wrote: “Rest in peace, Dre”. Natalie Brownlie posted: “RIP Dre.”

Jamie Whitehead said: “R.I.P Dre you was a good kid had a few laffs with you in the Claremont rest easy mate.”

Rheannee Blake posted: “Can’t believe it man he always had a smile on his face r.i.p stana man.” Marrisa Leigh posted: “Waking up to this news this morning honestly am speechless. You never really know how much life we have left. From God we came, and to Him we shall return. Rest easy. Dre Brown.”

David Waite said: “Rest in peace Dre. Another life taken too soon.” Sean Daly said: “Awww RIP Kidda, gonna miss that smile.”

Greater Manchester Police confirmed a man, 18, was arrested in the wake of the incident. He was being quizzed by detectives on Saturday having been detained on suspicion of murder.

A police scene remained in place on Raby Street, close to Westwood Street, on Saturday afternoon. A forensic tent was erected inside the cordon.

Forensics specialists were pictured combing the scene, with evidence markers placed along the street.

A GMP spokesperson said: “Officers responded to an incident in Raby Street, Moss Side following reports of an assault at around 11pm last night (08/05/26). One man aged in his 30s had injuries consistent with a stabbing was and taken to hospital, where he sadly died shortly after.

“Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family, who are being supported by specialist officers. One man, aged 18, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning. Enquiries are ongoing.”
