1. Israel built and defended a secret Iran war base in Iraq.
Israel set up a military outpost in the Iraqi desert to support its air campaign against Iran and launched airstrikes against Iraqi troops who almost discovered it early in the war, people familiar with the matter including U.S. officials said. Israel’s military declined to comment. Meanwhile, the U.S. is still waiting for Iran to respond formally to its proposed framework for peace talks. One problem for Tehran as it tries to negotiate: Its supreme leader is MIA.
