A stretch of the M60 motorway was partially shut this morning amid a car fire.
Pictures showed the vehicle up in flames near the exit for Whitefield this morning (Monday, May 11). Two lanes were shut off on the clockwise side of the motorway between junction 16 for Pendlebury and junction 17 for Prestwich and Whitefield.
Traffic was ‘very slow’ up to the incident, according to traffic alert service Inrix. Motorway cameras showed queues building.

Congestion was back to junction 14 for the East Lancashire Road.
