A greatly improved Middle East may very well one day thank the “unhinged boor” — that is Rau’s description of our president. At the present, it seems most Iranians themselves see the benefit of the actions taken by the U.S. and Israel and understand eggs need to be broken to make an omelet. The argument that current actions violate military codes is hogwash on face value.
Lastly, and in defense of Western civilization, Gandhi was a weird, flawed man who shouldn’t earn too many points for flippantly critiquing the West. People/societies who live in glass houses need not throw stones. The West has contributed more to man’s progress over the last couple of millennia than any other region on the planet by a large margin. Rau knows that — he lives here and not in India.
