A pub in Merseyside has issued an apology after renting out a space to far-right political party Restore Britain earlier this month. The owners of the Deysbrook in West Derby said they were unaware who was making the booking before allowing its function room to be used.
According to non-profit group Merseyside Antifascist Network (MAFN) the meeting, allegedly held on May 5, was Restore Britain’s first official branch meeting in Liverpool.
Restore Britain is a far-right political party in the United Kingdom led by Rupert Lowe, the Member of Parliament for Great Yarmouth. The organisation was launched in June 2025 as a political movement and pressure group, and registered as a political party in March 2026.
According to the BBC, the party says it believes in policies such as low tax, small government and secure borders, promising to “deport all illegal migrants” if it gains power.
Restore Britain policies also include deporting legal residents if they claim benefits or do not speak English, as well as abolishing the asylum system and repealing the Online Safety Act.
Following the meeting, The Deysbrook pub has faced backlash online, including from the MAFN.

Prior to The Deysbrook’s statement, the MAFN said on Instagram: “People have a right to know which businesses they are supporting financially, and whether those spaces are willing to platform racism and division in our city.”
The post continued: “Liverpool is a city with a proud anti fascist history. From the docks to the streets, generations of people here fought against racism, fascism, and attempts to divide working class communities.”
The Deysbrook has since issued a public statement online apologising for the booking.
The full statement said: “The Deysbook is a friendly community local with a private function room. The room is usually booked for social occasions such as birthdays, christenings and wakes and for some meetings.
“The pub and its management are non-political and didn’t realise who the bookers were. The pub is an LGBT+ friendly environment with multicultural team members which reflects our own values.
“Given the level of concern and distress that this booking has caused, members of the public and our team, we intend to put in place a policy to prevent the room being used for any political gatherings going forward. We would like to apologise to anyone who has been upset by this booking”.
The ECHO contacted Restore Britain for a comment and had not heard back at the time of publication.
