A survey released this week found that three-quarters of US Democrats are opposed to the US providing aid to Israel, in another indication of the party’s turn against the Jewish state.

The poll, by The New York Times and the Siena Research Institute, found that 74% of Democratic voters opposed “providing additional economic and military support to Israel.”

Only 20% of respondents were in favor of aid to Israel.

Among respondents, 60% said they sympathized more with the Palestinians, while only 15% sympathized more with Israel.

The survey also found that 48% of Democrats said the party has been “too supportive of Israel,” while eight percent said the party was not supportive enough, and 34% said US backing was “about right.”

Ninety percent disapproved of US President Donald Trump’s handling of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and 94% opposed Trump’s approach to the war with Iran.

The overwhelming majority, 84%, said the war with Iran was “not worth the costs.”

Surveys have repeatedly found that Democrats have become increasingly hostile to Israel.

Like other recent US polls, the new survey found that younger respondents were more opposed to the Jewish state.

Only seven percent of respondents between the ages of 18 to 44 were more sympathetic to Israel in the conflict, compared to 22% among voters over the age of 45.

The poll queried 1,507 registered voters by phone earlier this month. The margin of error was 2.8 percentage points.
