Two people arrested in Stockport after a mum was shot dead in Sheffield city centre have been charged. Shanice Brookes, 30, tragically died following a shooting outside the One Four One bar, on West Street.
Emergency services were called out to the scene at 2.45am on Bank Holiday Monday (May 25). South Yorkshire Police says the shooting followed an altercation in the street, to which Ms Brookes was an innocent bystander.
She was taken to hospital, but sadly died despite the best efforts of medics. A man and a woman were later arrested in Stockport.

In a statement issued this morning (Friday), South Yorkshire Police confirmed the pair had been charged in connection with the incident. Jemele Rhone, aged 30, of Outram Road, Sheffield, has been charged with murder, possession of a firearm and possession of criminal property.
Deiryen Dyce, aged 32, of Ellesmere Road North, Sheffield, has been charged with assisting an offender, possession of ammunition, possession of drugs with intent to supply, possession of drugs and possession of criminal property. Both have been remanded into custody ahead of an appearance at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court later today.
A 30-year-old man was also arrested in Sheffield on Monday, on suspicion of murder. He has since been released and is no longer being treated as a suspect, South Yorkshire Police says.

Ms Brookes, who had a young son, was a charity worker from Sheffield who had been studying a university degree. In a moving tribute, her family said: “Shanice had the biggest heart and the kind of energy you could never forget.
“She was a deeply loved daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin, friend and godmother, as well as being an amazing mum to her son, who meant the world to her. To her cousins, she was more like a sister – someone they could always turn to for love, laughter and support.
“Shanice was also due to graduate from university, a reflection of her determination, ambition and the bright future ahead of her. She could light up every room she walked in to with her infectious laugh, beautiful soul and magical aura.
“Shanice made people feel loved, safe and valued simply by being herself. She was truly one of a kind and she will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know and love her.”
Enquiries into the shooting remain ongoing, and anyone with information is being urged to come forward. Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles, senior investigating officer at South Yorkshire Police, said: “Shanice was an entirely innocent bystander who should’ve been able to enjoy a night out in our city without the fear that she wouldn’t come home safely.
“Shanice’s family, including her young son, now face the harrowing reality that they will never get to see her again. They are having to grieve the unimaginable loss of their beloved daughter, friend and mother in the most tragic of circumstances. Our thoughts remain with them.
“From the outset of this investigation our priority has been clear – to provide answers for Shanice’s loved ones – and today’s development is a significant step in our commitment to do so. Monday’s incident has shown how gun crime destroys families and brings devastation to our communities.
“We need your help to ensure other families never have to experience the unthinkable pain and loss Shanice’s loved ones are currently having to come to terms with. We still are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward and speak to us.
“This awful incident happened on a busy Bank Holiday weekend where there were loads of people in the area. Anyone who has any information which may assist us to urged to come forward, either by contacting South Yorkshire Police or Crimestoppers, anonymously.”
