Two brothers have been cleared of assaulting an armed police officer at Manchester Airport in 2024 after two juries failed to reach verdicts in the case.Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, 21, and Muhammad Amaad, 26, were both on trial accused of assaulting PC Zachary Marsden on July 23 2024.Today (May 29) prosecutors at Liverpool Crown Court announced they would not seek a third trial after a second jury was unable to reach a majority verdict after 19 hours of deliberation last week. Judge Neil Flewitt KC ordered not guilty verdicts to be recorded against the pair.Amaaz was previously convicted of assaulting two police officers and a member of the public in the same incident. He will be sentenced on June 26.The incident prompted a series of protests. The Manchester Evening News later obtained and published further CCTV footage which appeared to show the police officers coming under attack moments before the kick.
