Here are Monday’s latest updates from the U.S.-Iran cease-fire and Israel’s war with Hezbollah:
■ The IDF announced that Captain Dr. Ori Yosef Silvester, 30, was killed in a Hezbollah drone strike in southern Lebanon. Seven other soldiers were wounded in the drone strike, three of them severely.
■ The IDF called off its planned attack on Beirut following a call Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had with U.S. President Donald Trump.
■ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the IDF will continue its activities in Lebanon as planned and threatened to strike Beirut if Hezbollah “does not stop” its fire at Israel.
■ Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah said the group rejected a partial cease-fire offer – with Israel sparing Beirut from its strikes if Hezbollah stopped attacks on northern Israel – and demanded a full cease-fire instead.
■ Israeli settler attacks in the West Bank wounded three Palestinian children, including two infants, with a building set ablaze in a separate arson attack.
■ Ultra-Orthodox protests erupted nationwide against police arrests of suspected IDF draft evaders, with demonstrators paralyzing key roads, blocking railway tracks and raiding police facilities.
■ Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force Commander Esmail Qaani threatened to block Bab al-Mandeb, a key strait connecting the Indian Ocean with the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, if Israel continues striking Lebanon and Gaza.
