A UK cycling giant has collapsed into administration after 22 years in business. The company has since “filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators” with 42 jobs set to be effected immediately. Saddleback, the brand which sells Castelli, Sidi, and Sportful brand items, confirmed its intention to file a notice last week.
An email intended to check the availability of Saddleback staffers saw a bounceback on the inquiry. The response from Saddleback’s email account reads that the business is “no longer operational, as of Friday 29th May 2026.” It added: “If you have any inquiries about products, please get in touch directly with the brand.”
In its most recent set of accounts filed at Companies House, Saddleback Limited, founded in 2004, reported a pre-tax loss of £1.6million in the year leading up to January 31, 2025, Cycling Weekly reported. This was an improvement on the £2.3million loss it reported in the year before, however the company has since sought to appoint administrators.
It remains unclear what will happen to the UK distribution of the brands Saddleback handles. A description of what Saddleback offers its customers can be found on its website.
It reads: “Founded by real cycling enthusiasts in 2004, our passion for elite performance runs through everything we do at Saddleback. Our team of dedicated roadies, mountain bikers and triathletes practice what we preach to bring you the finest cycling products and a superior service to match.
“We’re the official UK home of Abbey Bike Tools, Cannondale, Castelli, Chris King, ENVE, Feedback Sports, Kogel, Pivot Cycles, Rudy Project, Sidi, Silca, Sportful, Stages, Trickstuff, Troy Lee Designs, Wolf Tooth and WTB.”
The most recent update to Saddleback’s history as listed on the website reads: “In 2023 Saddleback partnered with Feedback Sports, whose bike stands, training rollers and tools are regularly seen at World Tour level.
“With a reputation for quality, lightweight and practical products, many of which have been tested by Saddleback’s staff, Feedback Sports is a natural fit within Saddleback’s portfolio of high performance cycling equipment.”
Saddleback has been contacted for comment. In an automatic reply from the information account, Saddleback confirmed its closure. The email reads: “Thank you for your message. Saddleback Ltd is no longer opperational, as of Friday 29th May 2026.
“If you have any inquiries about products, please get in touch directly with the brand. Everyone at Saddleback Ltd would like to thank you for your custom and support during the time of operation.”
