The European Week of Regions and Cities (#EURegionsWeek) is coming in October, and we would like to invite you to join our sessions.
On 14 October 2025, from 9:30 to 10:30 CET, Eurostat will be hosting a joint workshop: Territorial truths: What the data say about Europe’s cohesion and competitiveness.
The workshop brings together experts from Eurostat, the Joint Research Centre (JRC), and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to reflect on how evidence- and place-based strategies can strengthen cohesion and ensure no place is left behind. Make sure to register for the 1-hour workshop which will be held in-person in Brussels.
Eurostat will present key indicators on regional competitiveness and convergence, while the JRC will share recent analytical work on demographic and economic territorial dynamics. The OECD will offer a global perspective and discuss territorial situations related to inequality and productivity, drawing lessons from both inside and outside the EU.
You can also take the opportunity to learn more about how demographic decline, labour shortages and limited infrastructure create pressures to move and attend in person Eurostat’s short 30-minute presentation, The Right to Stay: A Statistical Overview of Rural Europe, on 14 October 2025 at 12:30.
Last, but not least, check out the Eurostat stand, throughout the 2-day event, where you can try the interactive tools to access regional statistics, find out how much you know about regions through our entertaining quiz and explore the latest edition of Eurostat’s regional yearbook. It’s open from 14 October at 09:30 to 15 October at 18:00 CET.
