The session is part of Tuchel’s acclimatisation plans here in Florida, with players trying to establish a rhythm before facing Croatia on June 17 in their tournament opener.
“We’ve got lads who are winning major tournaments and not just in England, but obviously Rashy [Marcus Rashford] winning La Liga and Harry being in the Bundesliga and ripping it up, and then knowing as well we’ve done well in qualifying,” Burn added.
“We didn’t really go about trying to get that record of eight wins out of eight and not conceding. So it gives you confidence going into it. And I think that’s the thing for me, I’ve not been in and around the environment before. So just listening to what lads like Stonesy [John Stones] and Harry and Hendo [Jordan Henderson], what they’re saying, and then just sort of trying to carry on that message.”
Alex Scott: Liverpool fans should be excited by Iraola
Alex Scott has credited Andoni Iraola for guiding him to the brink of the World Cup and expects Liverpool’s new head coach to bring Jürgen Klopp’s heavy-metal football back to Anfield.
The Bournemouth and England midfielder is on standby for Tuchel’s finals squad and is training with the England team in the pre-tournament camp, where he is set to make his international debut against New Zealand on Saturday.
And the 23-year-old has put his call-up down to improvements made under Iraola this season, in which he has been injury-free and added different aspects to his game, including defensive work.
“I have improved loads this season, out of possession and in possession,” Scott said. “I feel like I have had his [Iraola’s] trust. Maybe in my first two seasons, I wasn’t at the level to be playing in the Premier League and that is something I had to learn on and learn from the players ahead of me in the team, but he put his trust in me from the first game of the season and I started and played 34 full games this year, so that is something to be really proud of.
