The mission to Japan also included a visit to Tokyo Metropolitan Toyama High School on 2 August where Director-General Magwood delivered a lectureabout the latest developments in nuclear energy around the world. The Director-General and Deputy Director-General Nobuhiro Muroya engaged in roundtable discussions on careers and opportunities in nuclear energy-related areas in Japan and abroad with high school students, some of whom visited the NEA in Paris in March 2025. Tokyo Metropolitan Toyama High School has a Super Science High School (SSH) designation from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan. The designation comes from the school’s specialised science and mathematics coursework and advanced research activities.
