The body of a Mohill resident has been found in Boyle, almost four days after he went missing.
Roscommon Civil Defence discovered the 21-year-old’s body today.
A massive search had been ongoing for David O’Callaghan, who was last seen near St Joseph’s Church in Boyle last Saturday evening.
The search spread to Longford, Carrick-on-Shannon and other neighbouring areas.
The Dublin native, who lived in Mohill, was found dead on the outskirts of Boyle today and the search has been stood down.
Former Boyle town councillor, Jane Suffin, says it’s a tragedy:
His mother, Noeleen, says, on behalf of herself, David’s father and siblings, and all immediate family, she would like to thank everyone who took part in the search for her son.
She says it is with a heavy heart to let everyone know that David has gained his wings.
Noeleen added: “Everyone has been truly amazing.
“All they can do now is make David proud and give their son, brother and friend the send-off he deserves.
“We, David O’Callaghan’s family, would like to thank each and every one of you for your support and the time yous all took to help bring our beautiful son home. To say we are heartbroken is an understatement.
“We have had so many kind condolences.
“We would also like to thank Shannonside for their continued support.”
