Iran’s latest warning to the US comes with a pointed add-on: Elon Musk’s businesses are now on its list of potential targets. Iranian state outlet Fars reported Thursday that Tehran will regard all Musk-linked operations in the region—including SpaceX’s Starlink internet network—as legitimate military objectives as it responds to recent US strikes, CNBC reports. Citing an unnamed “informed source,” Fars said Musk-linked companies had helped the US carry out alleged war crimes, including strikes on water infrastructure this week.
Fars said Iran “reserves the right” to strike facilities tied to Musk’s holdings in the region, including SpaceX partners and Starlink ground stations in several countries, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Iran, Forbes reports. Starlink has played an important role in US operations against Iran, supporting attack drones and unmanned surveillance and attack vessels, reports CNBC. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has previously rattled sabers at other US tech giants, including Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, and Google.
