Nancy Guthrie’s Grave Found, According to Mexican Group as Sources Claim Her ‘Remains’ Are ‘Buried Upstream’ with Dozens of Others

The investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, continues to unfold.

On Thursday, June 11, the Mexican missing person group Buscando Corazones Nogales reported receiving an anonymous tip claiming Guthrie’s remains were buried in an unmarked grave near the Mexican border. Ramona Guadalupe Ayala Ortiz, the group’s leader, told El Imparcial that the chilling tip came in on Wednesday, June 10, and they immediately began searching for Guthrie.

“We received an anonymous call telling us that the woman’s remains were in the Mariposa area in a grave over a stream,” Ayala Ortiz told the local outlet, “and this time we came to explore this stream that we failed to explore in the first intervention.”

The group discovered 25 unmarked graves but found no trace of Guthrie. Despite the setback, they pledged to continue searching the area for Guthrie and other missing persons.

Meanwhile, on June 11, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department released a statement clarifying that Mexican authorities had not contacted them about the tip or the search efforts. “We are aware of reports regarding an anonymous tip related to the Nancy Guthrie investigation that was provided to a group in Mexico,” Sheriff Chris Nanos said on X. “At this time, we have not been contacted by Mexican authorities.”

“This investigation remains active and ongoing, and we will continue to follow up on any credible information,” he added.

Guthrie has been missing since early 2026, after reportedly being kidnapped from her Arizona home. At the time of writing, police have not identified a suspect or motive in her case.

In May 2026, Sheriff Nanos told Arizona’s KOLD News 13 that police are “working hard to get this resolved, and I think every day they get closer.”

“I believe, at some point in time, we will make an arrest on this case,” he claimed. “And whoever that individual is, that individual will have a right to a fair and impartial trial.”
