Danny Rohl is waiting for Rangers to make a decision on his future.

The Ibrox side are currently in talks with Red Bull Salzburg over their boss after the Austrian side have made the German their top managerial target.

Rohl has just returned from holiday in the past 24 hours and has been informed of the discussions between the two clubs.

Record Sport understands the 37-year-old is now waiting for them to come to a conclusion – to see if Rangers will allow him to speak to Red Bull or if they will decide to keep him in post at Ibrox.

However, chairman Andrew Cavenagh is in America and dropped in on Scotland training on the eve of their World Cup opener against Haiti.

He and chief executive officer Jim Gillespie were in the states attending the North American Rangers Supporters Association event. Rohl is not pushing to leave Rangers.

Salzburg are willing to pay compensation and are likely to be able to meet Rohl’s demands – although there have been no discussions on the latter.

The delay could also allow Rangers to line up replacements should they give Rohl the go-ahead.

Former boss Steven Gerrard was interviewed last time by Cavenagh and was in Scotland earlier this week.

He led Rangers to their last title and would be a popular appointment amongst the fanbase.

Hearts boss Derek McInnes is another who has been mentioned.

Making a move on a replacement will only be triggered if they let Rohl move on.

Rohl came into Rangers last season and turned their fortunes around after Russell Martin’s disastrous reign.

He got Rangers back into the title race but a collapse in the top six saw them finish a disappointing third which saw Rohl face the wrath of angry fans

Rangers now have to decide if they want to change or stick by the former Sheffield Wednesday boss.

Rohl is no stranger to the Red Bull group.

He had various discussions with them before he took the Rangers job.

The ex-defender has also coached at Red Bull Leipzig.

The group rate him highly and Jurgen Klopp has also pushed for Rohl.

They want somebody who can get RB Salzburg back firing as the dominant force in Austria.

They have fallen behind LASK who won the title and Sturm Graz have won it in the previous two seasons.

Also, Rohl knows success at Salzburg could open even bigger doors with their expanding group.
