A major rescue operation is taking place in Boatstrand this morning after reports of a swimmer in difficulty.

Rescue 117, the Coast Guard helicopter based in Waterford, has been launched to the scene. The RNLI lifeboat from Tramore has also been deployed, alongside a significant emergency service presence on the shore.

Gardaí, paramedics, and local coast guard units are assisting in the operation.

No further details are available at this stage, and the condition of the swimmer is not yet known.
