RIVALS AWARE BLUES GUN IS ‘GETTABLE’
Rival clubs have become aware that Carlton winger Blake Acres “could be gettable” at the end of the year, according to Nine’s Tom Morris.
Despite having two years left to run on his current deal, Acres has been flagged as one to watch in the upcoming trade period.
Acres has played 14 matches this season, but was dropped for last week’s clash against Brisbane and is yet to be recalled to the senior side.
“Blake Acres is still not in this week. My understanding is that he won’t play at all, not even VFL, they’ll probably rest him with a view to him maybe playing against Hawthorn the following week,” Morris said.

But clubs could target the 27-year-old Blue given the situation at hand.
Acres has played 182 games at the top level across three different clubs, arriving at Carlton after stints at St Kilda and Fremantle.
After a poor 2025 campaign so far, there is plenty of intrigue surround what Carlton do with their list heading into next season.
Tom De Koning is weighing up huge offers from St Kilda, while a star trio has also been flagged as potential trade options to help rejuvenate their list.
Father-son prospect Harry Dean is a likely type in this year’s draft pool, while Cody Walker, the son of Andrew who is a potential pick 1 in the 2026 draft, has committed to the club already.

KEY GIANTS SET TO RE-SIGN
Despite losing several players during last year’s off-season, the Giants are set to re-sign some key pieces this time around.
According to the Herald Sun’s Jon Ralph, Irishman Callum Brown will join Xavier O’Halloran in committing his future to the club after strong progress on an extension in recent times.
Plus, star defender Jack Buckley has commenced early talks on an extension in what would be a huge boost for Adam Kingsley’s side. Buckley is set to become a free agent at the end of 2026 meaning his signature would be massive for the Giants.

According to Ralph, talks for Brown’s new deal have included two seasons and a game-based trigger and three seasons. Brown reportedly had interest from other clubs, including Melbourne.
Having lost Harry Perryman, James Peatling and Isaac Cumming last year, the re-signings of this trio, plus Darcy Jones and Aaron Cadman is a big boost.
Emerging defender Leek Aleer is also weighing up his future amid big offers from St Kilda. Ralph believes the Giants could ask for a first round pick in exchange for their young gun but there’s still a bit to play out there.
