Wicklow County Council has refused a planning application for a 666-home development in Arklow, which forms part of a plan for 1,500 homes by developer Lioncor, amid concerns around its construction timeframe, the delivery of a boardwalk/bridge across the Avoca River, and potential ecological impacts.
Lodged by Lioncor subsidiary Certain Assets of Dawnhill and Windhill Limited, the application proposed to construct 578 semi-detached and terraced houses and 88 apartments and duplex apartments on a 25.07-hectare site in Kilbride, to the north of Arklow town, that is part of a wider, 75.4-hectare Lioncor development site.
