JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill. – Two people have died and five injured from the severe weather in Jefferson County, Illinois, on Sunday, June 21.
Sheriff Jeff Bullard confirmed the second death just after 9 p.m. on Sunday with five others taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Bullard on Monday updated the identity of the victims who died in the storm. He stated the victims were 83-year-old Delores B. Shelton of North Ranch Lane in Mt. Vernon and 62-year-old Sarita L. Kimble of East July Road in Mt. Vernon.

Bullard said the two victims were not in the same home and both of the structures they were in were leveled due to the storm. A total of three structures were damaged.
Many viewers captured video of a powerful tornado moving through near the Texico area on Sunday, leaving a path of destruction, taking down homes and trees.
