According to local security sources, southern Israel’s isolated communities, situated along an extensive border without a continuous security barrier, require a change in the security doctrine, warning that smuggling from Jordan is not just criminal, but serves as a foundation for terrorist activity

Security officials in Israel’s southernmost communities were not surprised by a Haaretz report published on Monday that Shin Bet chief David Zini warned in closed-door discussions that “the next October 7 will be in Eilat.”
