As a religiously traditional woman who observes Shabbat and grew up in a glorious tradition, recent remarks by Education Minister Yoav Kisch infuriated me. He boasted this week that he had “returned Judaism to the schools.” Kisch also warned that if the left returned to power following this fall’s election, it would erase Jewish identity from the education system. Aside from the stale political fear-mongering, this statement reveals a warped and delusional view of Israeli reality.
