Israel Cortinez Cardosa, 74, of Goliad, Texas, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026, in Goliad, Texas. He was born August 29, 1951, in La Bahia, Texas, to the late Manuel Cardosa Sr. and Anita C. Cardosa.
Israel graduated from Goliad High School in 1971. He served in the National Guard. He married Elizabeth Garcia and was married for 47 years. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. A fan of the Houston Rockets, he enjoyed barbecuing, camping, and listening to country classics and Tejano music with his family at the Frio River. Israel served in the Army from 1971 to 1977 as a Sp 4. He was a maintenance Insulator for 25 plus years.
Israel is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Garcia Cardosa; his daughter, Tanya Cardosa Rodriguez (Gilberto); his sons, Jeremy Michail Cardosa (Darnielle) and Jonathan Michael Cardosa; his sisters, Mabel C. Solis (Joe) and Rosie C. Camacho (Robert); grandchildren, Faith and Blake; 24 nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.
In addition to his parents, Israel is preceded in death by his siblings, Adan Cardosa, David Cardosa, Manuel Cardosa, Jr., and Eva C. Gonzales.
Family and friends will gather for a visitation on Sunday, July 5, 2026, from 5:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m., with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m., at Grace Funeral Home, in Goliad, Texas. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Goliad, Texas. Israel will be laid to rest at La Bahia Cemetery.
Honoring Israel as pallbearers will be Blake Rodriguez, Robert Camacho, Manuel Cardosa, David Cardosa, Lonnie Ybarbo, Raul Mediano. Honorary pallbearers will be Benito Moya, Jr., Mario Ybarbo, Victor Ybarbo, Jr., Joe Deluna, Joann Ybarbo, and Severo Vela.
