Authorities say the Hampton Police Department, New Hampshire State Police, and other local agencies responded to 29 Ocean Boulevard for reports of shots fired just before 1:20 a.m. Sunday.

When first responders arrived, they found the man and woman suffering from gunshot wounds. At the intersection of P Street and Ashworth Avenue, Hampton police officers later made contact with Cooper, who matched the description of the suspect.

During that interaction, investigators said, Cooper pulled out a handgun and raised it. He then shot himself in the head while an officer fired one gunshot at the same time, according to the Attorney General’s Office.
