The remainder of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya’s family is crowded into an apartment in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Kazakh Embassy in Tel Aviv managed to extricate the family from Gaza, after Abu Safiya was abducted by Israel, his son Ibrahim was killed in an Israeli drone strike and his two other sons were wounded. Now they’re all in the home of their grandmother, the mother of the doctor’s Kazakh wife, Albina.
