Burnley will be aiming to stop their yo-yo run that has seen them either be relegated from the Premier League or promoted from the Championship in each of the past four seasons.

For manager Scott Parker and right-back Kyle Walker, it will be a chance to gain a positive result against their former employers.

Walker spent eight years with Spurs from 2009 to 2017, making 229 appearances in all competitions and scoring four goals. He moved to Manchester City for £45m and then won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, the Champions League, Uefa Super Cup, Fifa Club World Cup and League Cup before his £5m move to the Clarets last month.

Parker was a combative midfielder who spent two seasons with Tottenham, playing 63 times from 2011 to 2013.

He guided Burnley to 100 Championship points and second place in the table last year, but his last Premier League experience was a painful one.

He was Bournemouth manager in August 2022 and saw his Cherries side suffer a 9-0 humiliation at Anfield against Liverpool, with Parker, who had also been critical of the club’s transfer policy, sacked shortly afterwards.
