Over eight million euro has been announced in funding for 221 outdoor recreation projects across Ireland.
Minister Dara Calleary has made the announcement under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme.
€50,000 is being awarded for an accessibility audit of coastal and river access points while €44,000 is being granted for the development of the Glentanagree Bridge ‘Barracks’ Trailhead and Recreation Site in West Waterford.
Four Waterford projects are receiving €40,000.
These are:
the upgrade of Ardmore pier and boat cove to facilitate access for sea swimming
upgrades of the Crooked Bridge play and amenity area near Clonea on the Waterford Greenway
an improved walking route between Passage East and Crooke
and the overall promotion of recreation across County Waterford
Meanwhile, funding of between €34,000 and €39,000 is being allocated for:
a new trail section at Lacey’s Wood, Dunmore East
the installation and upgrading of infrastructure at Dunhill’s Anne Valley Walk
improved accessibility at Ramp Boreen, Tallow
and the rerouting of St. Declan’s Way via St. Declan’s Well
