United States airstrikes targeting infrastructure in southern Iran have killed seven people, Iranian state media reported Friday, as Washington expanded its air campaign following threats by U.S. President Donald Trump to pressure Tehran into easing its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
The seven were killed in U.S. attacks on bridges in Bandar Khamir, a port city in southern Iran, IRNA reported, citing the Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences.
The state-run IRNA news agency reported the death toll following the latest wave of early Friday morning strikes, which increasingly targeted bridges in the southern region of the country.
