The authorities believe that a woman who got on the Marine Atlantic ferry in Nova Scotia fell overboard.
Forty-one-year-old Ping Chang was last seen on the Blue Puttees just after 3:00 a.m. Wednesday while sailing from North Sydney to Port aux Basques.
Chang, who is of Asian decent, is 5’6” tall and has black hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a black jacket, black pants and beige hat at the time she was last seen on video surveillance.
RCMP supplied photo
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax sent a Cormorant helicopter out and a civilian aircraft searched south of Port aux Basques yesterday. A Coast Guard vessel retraced the ferry’s route.
Police are asking anyone who was on board the ferry that departed North Sydney on the evening of July 15th who may have information, or who may have interacted with Chang to reach out.
As well, an updated surveillance photo of Chang has been released. Anyone who has information is asked to contact RCMP in Port aux Basques.
