Calgary police say a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Macleod Trail in the city’s southeast on Friday is dead.
It happened at around 9:45 p.m., 500 metres north of Stony Trail and Macleod Trail SE.
Officers believe a 2004 Honda Civic was travelling northbound on Macleod Trail when it struck a pedestrian walking eastbound across the highway, who later died on the scene.
The driver remained and wasn’t injured.
While speed, alcohol, and drugs aren’t being considered factors for the driver, investigators say the latter two are being considered factors on the part of the pedestrian.
Northbound Macleod Trail was closed between Stoney Trail and 162 Avenue SW for the investigation. Police reopened it after 1 a.m.
