Tehran is pursuing both war and diplomacy based on its national interests, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on Monday, saying that proposals from mediators regarding a possible resumption of talks with the United States had been received.
Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported that Baghaei said proposals submitted through mediators had been communicated to Tehran and received by Iranian authorities.
“I reject the duality of either war or diplomacy. Diplomacy is a tool through which we pursue our national interests, just like war,” Baghaei said. He added that Iran would continue to defend itself “resolutely.”
