US-Iran War Live Updates: The conflict between the United States and Iran continued to intensify on Tuesday as a tanker was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, forcing its crew to abandon the vessel, while the US carried out its 10th consecutive night of airstrikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure. The escalation has disrupted shipping through the strategic waterway, driven oil prices higher and heightened fears of a wider regional conflict.
As both sides exchange fresh attacks, diplomatic efforts are also underway to prevent a full-scale war. Iran has sent its interior minister to Pakistan for talks, while Washington has signalled it remains open to negotiations despite continuing military operations. The crisis has also spread across the Middle East, with attacks reported in several US-allied countries and growing concerns over global energy supplies.
The conflict continued to spill across the Middle East, with Kuwait saying its air defences intercepted incoming Iranian projectiles and Jordan reporting that it had shot down three Iranian missiles. Bahrain also condemned Iranian drone attacks targeting its air traffic systems, warning that they posed a serious threat to civilian aviation.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon said nearly 100 US service members have been injured since Washington resumed strikes on July 7, though 96% have already returned to duty. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said most of the injuries were minor concussions and denied reports that the military had concealed information about troop casualties.
