Wildfire Information
Kingston
The Kingston wildfire remains active and is still estimated at approximately 9,519 hectares. There was little growth in the fire, however the southern edge was quite active producing significant smoke in and around the area.
Six water bombers from the province and Ontario worked in tandem throughout the day along with two heavy-capacity helicopters, and three light helicopters bucketing.
Northerly winds helped clear the smoke today from the Northern Bay area allowing ground crews to work without interruption for the first time in several days. The Canadian Armed Forces and volunteer fire departments continued to scan for hot spots and work on structure protection. The fuel break in the north is complete and over four kilometres in length.
The fuel break in the Perry’s Cove area is holding. The fire was burning along the coastline in that area this evening. A heavy-capacity helicopter will work that area tomorrow and a sprinkler line has been established to protect structures.
A frost risk and low easterly winds are expected to help limit growth and help with suppression tomorrow.
Paddy’s Pond
The Paddy’s Pond wildfire has not grown. It is still an active wildfire. The Canadian Armed Forces and wildland fire ground crews continued fuel break construction and hot spot suppression throughout the day.
Martin Lake
The wildfire in Martin Lake remains at 2,160 hectares and is still active.
Despite a delay in aerial suppression in the morning due to low ceiling in the area, work was able to proceed and included a waterbomber, bird dog, bucketing helicopters, and 802 air tractors. Ground crews worked on the cabin areas of Rushy Pond and Martin Lake.
