Amy Parks is focused on getting things done
As a business owner, I care about representatives who understand the real challenges of running a local business and keeping doors open in a tough economy. Amy Parks brings that understanding and more. She brings a grounded, practical approach to public service. She doesn’t talk about issues from a distance — she’s lived them, from navigating the education system for her own family to working through the complex challenges of water and wildfire mitigation that matter so much to all of us in Northern Colorado.
Amy has also shown she can build relationships across the aisle and with local law enforcement and community leaders, which tells me she’s focused on getting things done, not scoring political points.
As a woman who built my own business from the ground up, it also means something to see Amy serve as the first woman to represent HD 51 — proof that representation and competence can go hand in hand.

Grateful for quality medical care
I recently had a medical emergency. I would like to thank the EMTs and Fire Rescue for the excellent care that I received with kindness, caring and swift action. I have immense gratitude for the Emergency Room nurses and doctors of the University of Colorado Hospital and lastly, the staff of the fourth floor neurological unit. My outcome, TIA rather than a Cerebrovascular Accident. I cannot thank you all enough. I rate 10 stars out of 5. I am proud to live in a community that has this quality of medical care available.

From ally to opponent of Israel
What a change Democrat officials have made, just in my lifetime, on their support of our strong ally Israel. On May 14, 1948, President Truman recognized the fledgling new democracy just 11 minutes after Israel proclaimed independence. The strong leader did so even though his Department of State disagreed with the action.
On July 15, 2026, by a vote of 304 to 104, House Republicans, supported by 98 Democrats, defeated an amendment to legislation to defund Israel. There were also 10 courageous members who voted present. As usual, Rep. Neguse, who votes most times with the most hard left of his party, voted to defund Israel.

The Loveland Reporter-Herald invites readers to share their opinions, with a word maximum of 300 for each letter to our Open Forum and 700 for each guest opinion. Letters regarding candidates for office are limited to 200 words. Submissions that exceed maximums will be shortened. Each letter writer must provide their first and last name, and, for purposes of verification, each writer must provide an address and phone number. Guest opinion writers are asked additionally to provide an autobiographical statement that will publish with the opinion piece.
We do not publish anonymous letters, poetry, letters signed with pseudonyms, open letters, letters addressed to a third party or letters promoting a particular business or personal matter.
We do not publish letters that are part of an organized effort to flood the newspaper with mail on a single topic. We allow for exchanges between writers but do not publish personal attacks. Submissions may be edited.
Frequency limits: We will publish a writer’s next submission no sooner than seven days after the publication of a letter, and no sooner than 14 days after the publication of a guest opinion.
