(KPTV) – Wildfires continued to burn across Oregon Sunday, scorching hundreds of thousands of acres and forcing evacuations around the state.

The Emergency Conflagration Act has been invoked for the Beachcomb and Bench fires, as well as the Second Flat Fire.
The Oregon State Fire Marshal is assigning an incident management team and resources to the Beachcomb and Bench fires on the Warm Springs Reservation and Jefferson County and the Second Flat Fire in Harney County.
“The last two and half weeks have been extremely challenging for our firefighters and support staff,” State Fire Marshal Mariana Ruiz-Temple said. “The forecast for the rest of the week is for continued hot and dry conditions. I’m asking every Oregonian and visitor to be wildfire aware. Sign up for emergency alerts, know the evacuation levels, and take action to prevent sparking any new fires.”
The Oregon State Fire Marshal has resources assigned to six conflagrations and several Immediate Response assignments as the state continues to aggressively fight numerous wildfires across Central and Eastern Oregon.
The Beachcomb and Bench Fires and Second Flat Fire are the ninth and tenth times the Emergency Conflagration Act has been invoked in 2026.
(Earlier, officials mistakenly said this was only the eighth and ninth time this year.)

Grasshopper Fire Update:
Acres: 4,500
Last night 5 engine crews worked to hold the fire line and contained three spot fires along the southern flank.
While the fire has not reached any homes, Oregon State Fire Marshal (OSFM) tasks force groups were in place to protect the homes in Pine Hollow and Sportsmans Park. Growth was primarily toward Ball Point in the Badger Creek Wilderness.
On Sunday, firefighters continue to prioritize the south and eastern flank of the fire where homes are still at risk.

Increased evacuation levels along Mill Creek and north of Johnson Creek Reservoir.
Crook County: Crosswhite West (Box Springs)
Increased evacuation levels along Ochoco Highway and Ochoco Ranger Station Road.

Evacuation levels have increased in both Umatilla and Union County due to the Hagen Fire.

Highlights: Both fires remain very active with potential for extreme fire behavior with wind-driven runs and long-range spotting. Firefighters shifted from containment line construction to point protection on Saturday as Beachcomb Fire activity increased on the east side of the fire perimeter, spreading across the Deschutes River and northeast across U.S. Highway 26.
6:40 a.m.
ODOT announced that Highway 26 was reopened from milepost 57 to 115, between the junction with Highway 35 near Mount Hood, and Cherry Lane north of Madras. The highway had been closed overnight due to wildfire activity.
