Long Point beaches closed after swimming incident on Martha’s Vineyard
WEST TISBURY, Mass. —
All Long Point Wildlife Refuge Beaches on Martha’s Vineyard are closed Sunday after a swimming incident in West Tisbury.
On Friday, West Tisbury police responded to a swimming incident at Long Point, where a male swimmer was pulled from the water after they struggled to return to shore, police said.
The person was taken to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, where their condition is currently unknown.
All reservations will be refunded and the beaches are expected to be opened on Monday, The Trustees at Martha’s Vineyard announced. The beaches were also closed on Saturday due to the incident.
