A FATHER-OF-TWO who died in a collision involving a truck and a motorcycle has been remembered as an “amazing young man”.

Sean Connolly, aged in his 40s, of Ballinlina, Reens, Ardagh, County Limerick and formerly of Kingside, Cloonmull, Drumcliff, County Sligo was riding a motorbike at the time of the collision on Friday.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene on the N69 on the Listowel side of Tarbert village, Tieraclea, County Kerry on Friday morning at around 10am.

Tributes have poured in for Mr Connolly and many condolences expressed to his bereaved loved ones on rip.ie

The employee of Carrons Haulage, Ardagh, was held in the highest regard and described as “an amazing young man”.

“Sean was a genius at his profession but more so he was one sound gentleman. It was a pleasure to know Sean and he will be sadly missed but remembered highly,” said one grieving person.

A mourner said: “I am privileged to have known Sean, a true and genuine friend. Rest in peace Sean, you will be sadly missed.”

Another person who is keenly feeling his loss wrote: “His kindness, his laughter, and the way he always knew how to make me smile are gifts I’ll carry with me forever.”

Sean’s death is described as an “unimaginable loss”.

He is deeply regretted by his loving children Caoimhe and Brendan and their mother Kate (Fitzgerald), his heartbroken parents Deirdre (O’Kelly) and Brendan, brothers David and Peter, sister-in-law Suzanne and Sorcha, niece Croía, uncles Derrick (Connolly), Joe, Sean, Noel, Mike, Francis and the late Kevin and Kieran (O’Kelly), aunts Marian Delaney, Irene Dunne, Anne Power, Maura Griffin, Ann Cambridge, Brid Russell and Niamh O’Regan, uncles-in-law, aunts-in-law, cousins, relatives, extended family, the Fitzgerald family (Shanagolden), neighbours and many friends.

Sean’s funeral arrangements have been announced. Reposing at O’Grady’s Funeral Home, Ballingarry, County Limerick this Tuesday evening, August 19, from 4pm to 7pm. 

Arriving on Wednesday at The Church Of The Immaculate Conception, Ballingarry for 11am Requiem Mass. Burial afterwards in St Mary’s Cemetery Ballingarry.

Gardai in Kerry are continuing to investigate the collision that claimed Sean’s life.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed it to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Tieraclea area between 9.45 am and 10.15 on Friday morning are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
