Tens of thousands were without power in downtown Toronto and the east end on Wednesday night, according to Toronto Hydro’s outage map.

The affected areas included Regent Park, Cabbagetown, Distillery District, Riverdale, Leslieville, and parts of East York.

Toronto Hydro said in a post on social media that it was aware of the widespread outages “due to a Hydro One loss of power supply.”

The utility company added that it was working with Hydro One to investigate the issue.

According to the Toronto Hydro map, more than 31,000 customers were impacted by the power outages.

Thunderstorms rolled into the city on Wednesday. prompting Environment Canada to issue a yellow alert. That has since been lifted.
