RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – UPDATED AT 11 P.M.: On Wednesday, Aug. 12, changing winds pushed the 70,757-acre #BugFire back into California where it crossed Highway 395 north of Highway 70, according to an evening update from the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office.
It caused U.S. 395 to be closed in both directions from Bordertown to Hallelujah Junction, according to a Wednesday, Aug. 12, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post.
Firefighters responded quickly and were able to slow and hold the fire’s westward spread, according to a Plumas County law enforcement Facebook post.
As of Wednesday evening, the fire is being held west of Highway 395, north of Hallelujah Junction, and east of Scott Road.
The previously issued Evacuation Warnings remain in effect for the Chilcoot and Vinton areas.
Residents in the warning area should stay alert, be prepared to leave, and continue to monitor official updates.

UPDATED AT 10:10 P.M.: U.S. 395 is closed in both directions from Bordertown to Hallelujah Junction due to the Bug Fire, according to a Wednesday, Aug. 12, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post.
Rancho Haven area residents who need to evacuate must exit southbound on Red Rock Road, the sheriff’s office said.
Additionally, a road closure remains in place at Red Rock Road and Clydesdale Drive.
The sheriff’s office said traffic will not be permitted northbound on Red Rock Road at Clydesdale Drive.
This remains a dynamic situation, and conditions can change quickly.
Residents in the area are asked to remain vigilant, be prepared to evacuate, and continue to monitor official updates.

UPDATED AT 7:40 P.M.: U.S. 395 is closed at the Nevada state line and now at North Constantia Road, according to a California Highway Patrol – Susanville Facebook post.
Highway 70 is closed to east of Highway 49 and east of Portola.
The closure is due to the Bug Fire.
The public is asked to avoid the area.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE: At 5:51 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, the Bug Fire on northbound U.S. 395 has closed all lanes from the Nevada border to Red Rock Road, according to Nevada Department of Transportation and California Highway Patrol – Quincy.
