Longtime Langley restaurant Emilio Finatti Pizzeria has temporarily closed its doors due to a huge fire that broke out in the building next door on Sunday, Aug. 17.
“Our Langley location encountered an unexpected challenge with a fire in the adjacent building,” shared the restaurant online. “We are incredibly grateful for the quick response and support from the Langley City Fire Department during this situation.
“The damage, disruption, and displacement this fire has impacted on our location has been devastating for us today. We are waiting to get access and hope the damage is not extensive.”
Langley RCMP announced that they responded to a report of a fire at a construction site located at 201 Street and Fraser Highway in Langley on Sunday at 4:13 a.m.
“Out of an abundance of caution, several neighbouring residential buildings were evacuated, said Sergeant Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP in a release. “We are working with the Langley City Fire Rescue on this incident and the investigation into the cause of this fire is on-going.”
Langley City Firefighters Association also shared that crews from the Township of Langley and the City of Surrey were called out to the blaze at the six-storey building under construction.
“The incident quickly escalated, becoming a 4-alarm fire due to the scale and intensity of the blaze,” posted the association on social media. “Crews from all three departments worked together to bring the fire under control. We want to extend a sincere thank you to our fellow firefighters from Langley Township and Surrey for their support and professionalism during this challenging incident.”
