Crystal Palace are considering Rennes centre-back Jérémy Jacquet (20) as a possible replacement for Marc Guehi given the England international is a target for Premier League champions Liverpool FC, according to Miguel Delaney. The Crystal Palace defender entered the final months of his contract at Selhurst Park. The Eagles would be open to parting ways with Guehi but there is reportedly a £10m gap in valuation between Palace and Liverpool. The Reds are reportedly reluctant to go above £35m for Guehi.
Meanwhile, Rennes would reportedly command a £35m transfer fee for Jacquet. The 20-centre-back centre-back is the latest gem to break through Rennes’ Academy in recent years, following in the footsteps of the likes of Ousmane Dembélé, Eduardo Camavinga and Désiré Doué. Jacquet’s stock rose on the back of a dominant performance for 10-man Rennes for their Ligue 1 opening day home win against Marseille.
