The most recent meeting between Gadi Eisenkot and Naftali Bennett was 10 days ago, in the latter’s home in Ra’anana, aka “the fortress.” Eisenkot reported to his team that it was “very good, practical, forward-looking.” He takes care also to meet with Avigdor Lieberman and Yair Golan. The impression is that behind the closed doors, everyone is laser-focused on the singular target: to win on October 27 and to form a government. According to the latest polls, they are just a step away. It’s not that there aren’t genuine disagreements, for example, over the Haredi conscription program. Bennett and Lieberman are much more extreme than Eisenkot. But it’s not insolvable; the formula will be found.
