NORMAL (25News Now) – Two of the five people injured Friday when they were hit by a pickup truck on Uptown Normal’s roundabout have been transported to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, according to police.
Earlier, the Normal Fire Department’s public information officer, Matt Swaney, said two people were badly hurt. He said all five pedestrians were initially taken to hospitals in Bloomington-Normal.
Besides hitting the victims, Swaney said the pickup hit the corner of the Children’s Discovery Museum, which was closed because of power outages from Thursday’s severe storms.
First responders were called to the roundabout at 3:12 p.m., said Swaney. He said the pickup truck driver stayed at the scene. A police sergeant Friday night said the crash remains under investigation.

The Uptown Normal roundabout and Beaufort Street were closed for about 5 1/2 hours, according to police.
