MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – President Donald Trump is slated to come to the Grand Strand this week.
The South Carolina Republican Party announced Monday that it is postponing a U.S. Senate Stump Stop in the Upstate because Trump is expected to hold a rally Friday in Myrtle Beach.
“From the beginning, the purpose of these Stump Stops has been to give Republican voters across South Carolina the opportunity to hear directly from the candidates,” SCGOP Chairman Drew McKissick said. “We want to give both sides a voice, and we are not going to hold a Stump Stop where only one of the two candidates can participate. We are working to find another date that gives both candidates that opportunity.”
Trump has publicly endorsed interim Sen. Darline Graham in the runoff for the U.S. Senate seat.

The seat came open after the July death of Darline Graham’s brother, longtime senator Lindsey Graham.
Darline Graham is facing Congressman Ralph Norman. The runoff winner will face Democratic candidate Dr. Annie Andrews in November.
Early voting runs Wednesday through Friday, and the runoff election will be held on Aug. 25.
The South Carolina Republican Party said it is working to reschedule the Anderson event.
