Chelsea are now advancing in a deal to sign Manchester United starlet Alejandro Garnacho, according to reports – with the clubs now in talks over a potential switch from the north-west to London for the speedy winger, with Garnacho having turned down a move to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
Garnacho has been told by Red Devils gaffer Ruben Amorim that he won’t be in his plans in the coming future, which means he’s not been in their squad at all through pre-season or their Premier League curtain-raiser vs Arsenal on Sunday. A move appears to be creeping closer, with personal terms agreed with the Blues ahead of a potential move, and now that appears to be further in motion with talks being opened.
Romano: Chelsea ‘Advancing’ for Garnacho, He’s Turned Down Bayern

The report by Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter) states that Chelsea are now ‘advancing’ in club-to-club talks for Garnacho, as Enzo Maresca aims to bolster his squad – with a deal underway in terms of negotiations with United.
The ‘excellent’ relationship between United CEO, Omar Berrada, and Chelsea’s top brass means that a deal could be easier to complete, alongside the fact that Garnacho only wants a Chelsea move.
But crucuially, the Argentina international has turned down an approach from Munich in the last 48 hours, with ‘no chance’ of a move, and a potential switch to Stamford Bridge is looking more and more likely as the window passes by.
Bayern are looking for attacking recruits, having lost Jamal Musiala to injury in the FIFA Club World Cup, as well as the departures of Leroy Sane to Galatasaray and Kingsley Coman to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr – but Garnacho is one star who won’t be on his way to the Allianz Arena, with talks improving with Chelsea.
Garnacho, just 21 years of age, has made 93 Premier League appearances for United with 16 goals to boot, as well as a further 51 in other competitions, scoring 10 in those games. However, United have since bought Matheus Cunha to come into their side to fit Amorim’s tactical setup, alongside Bryan Mbeumo for the other side of their attack, and that has made him redundant for minutes.
Garnacho will likely fit onto the left-wing of Chelsea’s lineup, competing with Jamie Gittens for minutes, whilst Pedro Neto will aim to play alongside new boy Estevao on the right.
