Police have blocked off a row of shops near Piccadilly Gardens

A large police cordon has been placed in the city centre following an incident. The M.E.N understands the incident occurred at around 9pm on Tuesday (August 25).

Multiple police officers and security staff can be seen behind the cordon and debris can be seen at the McDonald’s entrance.

The nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed.

Greater Manchester Police has been approached for comment.
