Police say a motorcyclist was travelling more than 200 km/h right before a fatal crash in northeast Calgary on Wednesday night.
Emergency crews were called to McKnight Boulevard near Metis Trail NE around 7:50 p.m. for reports of a single‑vehicle collision.
Police say a motorcycle was heading eastbound on McKnight at more than 200 km/h when the driver lost control and was thrown from the bike near the Metis Trail off‑ramp.
The driver, a 39‑year‑old man, was rushed to hospital with life‑threatening injuries, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators do not believe impairment was a factor in the crash.
