BENNINGTON, Neb. (WOWT) – Douglas County Authorities were able to locate the student who allegedly brought a firearm to Westview High School, prompting a lockdown on Friday.
The DCSO says deputies, along with Nebraska State Patrol Troopers and Bennington Police, searched the building and found the student.
Students were then dismissed from the school as the investigation into the incident continues. DCSO says the scene is now secure. The student was taken into custody without incident.
DCSO says authorities are still searching for the firearm.
According to Westview’s Athletic Director, their game against Papillion-La Vista will proceed as scheduled.

According to the DCSO, dozens of officers responded to Westview High School just after 2 p.m. Friday.
First Alert 6 crews on the scene saw officers posted around the school, and a helicopter flying overhead.
“I have an exchange student here from Brazil This is her first week. And she’s texting me form inside asking if this is normal and that she’s terrified. I texted her back and said sadly it is normal.” parent Shelly Callahan said.
Omaha Public Schools put an alert out at 2:34 p.m. that the school was officially in lockdown:
“Westview High is currently in lockdown and following our Standard Response Protocol procedures. We will communicate additional information as soon as possible.”
UPDATE: At 2:32 pm the DCSO received a report or an armed party at Westview High School. The school was placed on lockdown while DCSO, Nebraska State Patrol troopers, and Bennington Police searched the building for the student.
