GRAND CANYON, AZ (AZFamily) — Rescuers evacuated around 50 people by air on Saturday after flash flooding in the Grand Canyon, according to officials with the National Park Service.
The flash flooding started in Bright Angel Canyon at around 2:30 p.m., officials said. No injuries have been reported.
The visitors were rescued from the Phantom Ranch area, according to park officials. Phantom Ranch and the entirety of the North Kaibab Trail are closed until further notice.
Park officials ask that visitors not try to access closed areas and said more information will be shared when it is available.
